Libraries' Computer Use Policy

Library computers are intended for academic, course-related use. Academic
work takes precedence over all other work. Users not conforming to this
requirement may have their computers shut down. Please note that MCC
computers are public access computers where you should have no
expectations of privacy.
Individuals
using the libraries' computers shall conform to MCC's Computer Users'
Code of Conduct. In particular, library users are NOT permitted to:
- Send, view and/or print lewd or
pornographic materials or other related activities unless directly
authorized, in writing, by an instructor.
- Participate in any form of chat room or
online social network, unless otherwise authorized by an instructor,
in writing.
- Play or download any type of computer
games or entertainment activities.
- Change, copy, delete, distribute, read,
or otherwise access files without the permission of the owner.
- Bypass accounting or security mechanisms,
attempt to circumvent data-protection or system consistency schemes,
or attempt to uncover security loopholes.
- Change computer configurations or
settings in any manner.
- Engage in any activity which might
degrade performance of the system or congest the network or cause
physical damage to any computer or related loss of functionality.
- Violate copyright laws of the United
States or other federal, state, or local laws.
- Turn off any computers, monitors or
printers. If a workstation "freezes," please see the librarian at
the Information/Reference desk.
