How To Use It
The LeRoy V. Good Library (Brighton campus)
maintains holdings of the New York Times from 1914 - present. The latest
three months of this title are stored on the current newspaper shelves;
older editions are on microfilm.
The Damon City Campus Library keeps the latest
6 months of the Sunday edition. Patrons can request articles be faxed
over from the LeRoy V. Good Library.
Find articles on a specific topic in
one of three ways:
1.) The New York Times Index
will help you identify articles by subject. It is
shelved in the
Reference area of the LeRoy V. Good Library. MCC owns
this annual
publication from 1914 - present.
Here's how to use it:
-
Look up your subject.
-
Choose the news summary
which meets your needs.
-
Copy down the month,
day, page, section and column for the article
(the year is on
the Index cover).
-
Go to the Microfilm
Room (located on the Main Floor of the LeRoy
V. Good Library) to
read or print from the appropriate microfilm.
2.) MCC Libraries
subscribes to Custom Newspapers, an online periodical
database
that provides full-text access to the New York Times from
1985 -
present.

from Home" and follow directions to log-in |

| Type the main concepts of your topic
into the appropriate search boxes. |
Limit your search so that you can
find articles specifically from The
New
York Times. |
| Click <Search> |

- Review the results.
When you see an article that looks good to you, click on the
title to look at the full-text. Articles can be printed,
e-mailed or downloaded.
3.) The complete backfile of the New York
Times can be searched from
NYTimes.com. There are two article archives:
