Now there is a new way to save money and the environment.
Monroe Community College students who share a ride to the Brighton Campus will be able to reduce their parking expenses and create a cleaner environment through the college's new GreenSaver Rideshare option.
GreenSaver RideShare is aimed at reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicles on campus in support of the college's green initiatives. Parking permits cost $50 each fall and spring semester for GreenSaver members and $75 each semester for non-members; the summer rate, which covers all summer sessions, is $50 for all students.
To become a GreenSaver member, a team consisting of two or more individuals must agree to arrive on campus together in one vehicle. Each team member must register his or her vehicle through MCC Parking Services.
One student, who will be designated team captain, will be charged the fee on their student account. Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in lot J. Each designated stall is marked by green lines and an image depicting a vehicle with occupants.
Participants may use a RideShare parking space only when operating as a valid team. Individuals found violating conditions of the agreement must forfeit their registration in the program.
Any vehicle parked in violation of the GreenSaver rules will be subject to a citation and/or towing. No notice will be given prior to towing. Violators will be required to pay the towing and all related charges, and RideShare privileges may be revoked at the discretion of the college. At that time, the GreenSaver registration will be voided by Parking Services.
Each participant must have a valid driver's license, a vehicle to register, and must live at separate residences.
Each participant must have similar schedules showing arrival and departure times are the same.
Both registered vehicles may not be parked on campus at the same time.
Enforcement of the GreenSaver spaces is enforced at all times. Grace period for parking registration does not apply to these reserved spaces.
GreenSaver registrations expire at the end of each semester. Students interested in renewing their GreenSaver membership must reapply. Bring the completed application along with your driver's license, vehicle registration and student ID to the Parking Services office (1-102). Office hours are 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and Wednesday 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. All participants must be present to apply.
