Building 9, Phase II Renovation and Greenhouse Replacement
The focus of this project is the improvement of academic facilities in Building 9. Besides the program-based renovations, there is also a need for improvement of mechanical infrastructure, asbestos abatement, means of egress and plumbing facilities (restrooms and drinking fountains).
At the completion of construction for the Phase I Renovations of Building 9 it was determined that the two phases should be combined as a common submission to the USGBC for the purpose of earning LEED certification. Foremost amongst the reasons is the real possibility of achieving LEED Silver status, or better, for the overall building renovation. It also offered the opportunity to include the Greenhouse Replacement project at the sour side of Building 9 that is currently under construction.
Since Building 9 is a heavily used classroom building, the renovations are proposed to be implemented over summers of 2010 and 2011.
"New" Downtown Damon City Campus: Proposed
Since its inception, the Damon City Campus has been housed in rented space in the Sibley Bldg. The "new" downtown campus is still in the conceptual phase but is envisioned as a destination, a place that draws students, faculty, staff and community members to its doors as a place of engagement and collaboration. It is anticipated to be a full-service campus. Academically, the facility design will include "smart" classrooms, general-purpose classrooms, labs, a library, learning/media centers, faculty offices and other instructional spaces.
Projected Occupancy: TBD
