Did you know that in some patients who have significant Q waves in lead III may not have infarct at all? Occasionally patients have PHYSIOLOGIC Qs which are normal and do not signify infarction. The test to determine if a Q in Lead III is physiologic is to aquire lead three as the patient takes in a deep breath. If the Q disappears, it is physiologic, not pathologic.
