Student Consumer Information

Monroe Community College welcomes you to our college community. The Higher Education Act of 1965 requires colleges and universities to provide prospective and current students, parents, guidance counselors, coaches, and the public access to certain information that they are entitled to as consumers.   • Entrance Counseling Information
    • All first time Federal Direct Loan borrowers must complete an entrance interview at StudentLoans.gov.

  • Exit Counseling Information
    • Upon completing your studies or ceasing half-time enrollment (less than 6 credit hours), you must complete an exit interview. This may be done at StudentLoans.gov or in person at the financial aid office. The exit interview covers:
      • average anticipated monthly repayment amounts;
      • Repayment plan options;
      • options to prepay or pay on shorter schedule;
      • use of Master Promissory Note;
      • debt management strategies;
      • the seriousness and importance of the student's repayment obligation;
      • terms and conditions for forgiveness or cancellation;
      • rights and responsibilities of students under Title IV, HEA loan programs;
      • terms and conditions for deferment or forbearance;
      • consequences of default;
      • options and consequences of loan consolidation;
      • tax benefits available to borrowers

  • National Student Loan Data System
    • For student loan borrowers and parent loan borrowers of Title IV Student Loan, Monroe Community College is required to submit loan information to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), and this information may be accessed by guaranty agencies, lenders, and institutions who are authorized users of the data system.
