Commons Council Home

MCC Commons Council is taking a turn for the new in 2005. Commons Council will serve two primary purposes for the students living in the residence halls. It will be the voice of the residents and the vehicle that helps the residents give back to the community in which they live.

In its first role, Commons Council will be the forum for residents to bring any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions they might have regarding life in the halls. This will be the residents' opportunity to take an active role in their living and learning environment.

Commons Council will also serve as the community service organizations for the residents to give back to the Rochester community. Commons Council will provide opportunities for residents to go out into the Rochester community and be a part of various activities like Habitat for Humanity, preparing meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House, and conducting food and clothing drives in the halls to be donated to Rochester area food and clothing banks.

Given the nature of Commons Council there will be many student leadership positions available for residents. Residents who are interested in developing themselves as leaders or simply have an interest in being a part of service-based activities are encouraged to come out and take part. There will be ample positions and activities that will allow residents to get involved and take a part in their experience and that of those in the community that surrounds them.

Please see a Housing & Residence Life team member if you are interested in joining.
