Description:
This course is an integrated approach to basic college skills improvement and is designed for students admitted to the College through the Transitional Studies Program (GS01). Students will develop literal and interpretive reading abilities, basic grammar, usage, mechanics, as well as word recognition strategies, vocabulary techniques and learning skills. Students gain practice in developing a clear, unified, and coherent paragraph. Students gain confidence by improving their overall abilities in the areas of reading, writing, and learning, which helps them become successful college students. Six class hours per week, six fee hours. Six imputed credit hours; no earned credits.
Prerequisite(s):
Prerequisites: Accuplacer placement or permission of Transitional Studies Department.

Service Project (TRS 101-CC3):
Students in this class will research fundraising opportunities and develop a fundraising project. Students will create advertising materials and implement their plan for fundraising. Students will present their research to their peers and solicit donations for the cause they have identified. (10 hours) F-11
