ACC 101 - Accounting Principles I

Accounting Principles I

Description:
Basic principles of financial accounting for the business enterprise with emphasis on the valuation of business assets, measurement of net income, and double-entry techniques for recording transactions. Introduction to the cycle of accounting work, preparation of financial statements, and adjusting and closing procedures. Four class hours.
Prerequisite(s):
Prerequisite: MTH 098 or MTH 130 or equivalent.

Service Project (ACC 101-008, 012, CC1):
Students in this course have the option of choosing a service project working with the CASH- Creating Assets Savings and Hope- program.  Students receive a 4-hour training to become CASH advisors.   The C.A.S.H. Advisor meets with the clients to determine their interest in financial programs and services and provides information about community resources that can help improve the client’s economic self-sufficiency. (20 hours - Option) S-09


ACC 102 - Accounting Principles II

Description:

A continuation of the basic principles of financial accounting including a study of corporation accounts and the statement of cash flows. The course deals with the development of accounting theory with emphasis on managerial techniques for interpretation and use of data in planning and controlling business activities. Four class hours.
Prerequisite(s):
Prerequisite: ACC 101 with a minimum grade of C or higher, or the sequence ACC 110 and ACC 111 with an average grade of at least C.

Service Project (ACC 102-002, 183):
Students in this course have the option of choosing a service project working with the CASH- Creating Assets Savings and Hope- program.  Students

ACC 204 - Tax Procedures

Description:
A study of federal, state, and local tax law and procedures for corporations, partnerships, and individuals. Scheduled to be offered in the Fall Semester during the evening and the Spring Semester during the day. Three class hours.
Prerequisite(s):
Prerequisite: ACC 101 with a minimum grade of C or higher, or the sequence ACC 110 and ACC 111 with an average grade of at least C.

Service Project (ACC 204-101):
No Experience Necessary:  Students in this course have the option of choosing a service project working with the CASH- Creating Assets Savings and Hope- program. Students receive a 12-hour training to become a Tax Preparer.  In this position students prepare tax returns for clients eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) using the IRS Tax Wise software. You‘ll be able to prepare your taxes as well as friends and family.   (50 hours - Option) S-09
