Who is a Service-Learning Assistant (SLA)?
- Assists with the coordination efforts associated with a service-learning project by operating as the link between the service-learning classroom, the Office of Service-Learning and our community partner.
- Collects any necessary paperwork from students, making regular contact with the community partner(s) and distributing information as needed.
- Fulfills other duties from a list of responsibilities specific to the course and assigned community partner(s).

Compensation:
SLA’s receive a stipend of $75 for their assistance. This stipend
is in addition to any other compensation they may be receiving, i.e.
financial aid or federal work study). |
If you are interested in an SLA position simply complete and submit an application
(.pdf format). You do not need to be enrolled in a Service-Learning course. Applications and position descriptions can be obtained through the Office of Service-Learning, Damon City Campus-5th floor or by calling the Office at 585-262-1713. Completed applications will be reviewed and applicants interviewed. All applicants will be notified once the SLA selection is completed and placement decisions have been made.
Service Award:
Each Service-Learning Assistant will be presented with a Service Activity
Award at the end of the academic year depending on completion of all assigned tasks. |
