Service Learning Courses in Sociology
A survey of the major concepts employed in the systematic study of human relationships, with emphasis on society, culture, social interaction, socialization, groups, bureaucracy, institutions, collective behavior, social stratification, social control, social change and sociology as a field of knowledge. Three class hours. (SUNY-SS)
Course Offered Fall and Spring
- Service Project (SOC 101-C10, C13):
Students partner with the Neighborhood Consortium for Youth Justice (NCYJ) – a collaborative of neighborhood based organizations to work collaboratively with diverse community resources to assure that youth with behavioral needs and their families are growing emotionally, physically and intellectually. Students will participate in training in Asset based Community Development and facilitating Safety Net training among other activities.
