Service Learning Courses in Economics

Service Project (ECO 103-CC1, 012, 013):
Students in this course have the option of choosing a service project working with the CASH- Creating Assets Savings and Hope- program.  Students receive a 4-hour training to become CASH advisors.   The C.A.S.H. Advisor meets with the clients to determine their interest in financial programs and services and provides information about community resources that can help improve the client’s economic self-sufficiency. Service Project (ECO 111-003):
This project is a collaboration with the University of Rochester. Students will be trained by UR faculty/staff on administering the NEMS instrument.  Students will use this tool in chain grocery stores, supermarkets and hyper-markets (Wal-mart super stores). This information will be used in collaboration with a large chart review data base that has obesity prevalence data for kids in Monroe county   (10 hours) S-09
