MAR 200 - Principles of Marketing

This course examines the business function of Marketing. Students will learn how marketers deliver value in satisfying customer needs and wants, determine which target markets the organization can best serve, and decide upon appropriate products, services, and programs to serve these markets. Topics include branding and product development, pricing strategies, marketing research, promotion, supply chain management and service marketing. Marketing metrics will be used throughout the course to assess the impact of marketing strategies. Three class hours.

3 Credits

Prerequisites: BUS 104 with a C or better and (MTH098 with a C or better or MCC Level 6 Mathematics placement.).

Course Offered Fall and Spring

 

 

Service Project (MAR 200-002):
Teams will be developed to create an awareness campaign for the Arthritis Foundation overall, or for a specific initiative such as "Let's Move Together".   (20 hours) S-11

Service Project (MAR 200-SLI):
Develop a Consistent Look for local communication such as newsletters, e-mail, etc. for the Arthritis Foundation.   (20 hours) S-11

MAR 201 - Dynamics of Selling

Factors involved in effective selling; methods of conducting the sales presentation; application of psychological and persuasive selling techniques. Three class hours.

Prrequisite: BUS 104 with a C or better.

Course Offered Fall and Spring

 

Service Project (MAR 201-001):
Teams will be developed to engage the community and develop a donor engagement plan for communicating with, and cultivating mid-level donors with the Arthritis Foundation.  This could include recruiting corporate teams for the "Let's Move Together Campaign".  (20 hours) S-11
