ENG 213-Creative Writing
A workshop approach for students interested in doing original writing of short fiction, poetry, and drama. Emphasis is on reading and analytical discussion of students' work. Three class hours. (SUNY-A) 3 Credits.

ENG 218-Introduction to Shakespeare
Reading and discussion of eight or nine or plays that have been considered the greatest ever written. Buffoons, gravediggers, shrews, kings, and tender lovers express themes of power, revenge, love, jealousy, ambition, betrayal and mysticism. Three class hours. (SUNY-H) 3 Credits

ENG 220-Introduction to Dramatic Literature
A survey of drama from the ancient Greeks to the end of the 20th century, with emphasis on dramatic structure and style. The readings may include international writers such as Aristophanes, Marlowe, Goldsmith, Ibsen, O'Neill, Fugard, and Childress. Three class hours. (SUNY-H) 3 Credits.

ENG 243-Creative Writing Workshop Playwriting
A workshop designed for students interested in advancing their skills in writing plays. Emphasis is on exploring different approaches to the genre and on drafting, workshopping, and revising original work within the genre. Three class hours. (SUNY-A) 3 Credits.

VaPA Courses/Program
The Visual and Performing Arts Department offers a variety of courses and opportunities in theatre. Studies include a solid background in liberal arts and training in theatre and production. Emphasis is on a broad range of skills including artistic, critical thinking, evaluation, planning, and technical ability.
