Monroe Community College New Student Orientation!

Starting off on the right track!

Welcome to the MCC community! MCC serves over 19,000 students and provides certificates and degrees in more than 80 programs. New Student Orientation will help you:

  • To interact with friendly faculty, staff and administration that are here to help you be succeed.
  • To learn about life on campus from a Peer Mentor and make new friends.
  • To manage and find your way through campus by participating in a comprehensive campus tour.

Our Orientation program is designed to benefit the students and their guests. The Student Program highlights small group activities with other new students facilitated by a Peer Mentor. Peer Mentors are students who have been through intensive training to provide new students with the numerous resources and opportunities on campus to assist in the transition to MCC. The Guest Program highlights a specialized session for guests to assist in answering questions about books, meal plans, parking, and advice on how to be supportive of their new student. Both students and guest will be entertained and educated by our Peer Mentors as they perform educational skits that address issues commonly faced by students at MCC.

We invite you and your guests to “save the date” for one of the following Orientations. Each of these Orientations will have a separate session for Returning Adults hosted by Bill Sigismond, the Director of Experiential and Adult Learning.

Check-in and Duration of the Program

It is very important that you arrive at the check-in times, and stay throughout the entire program. Student and staff members will be made available for check-in at the time periods as indicated. If you arrive late, you may not be able to participate in that Orientation program and will be asked to reschedule for another program. We ask that all students plan on staying the entire time. Once you are involved in your small groups, having students leave Orientation early will impact the experience of the other students in the group. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Trung Nguyen, Assistant Director of Orientation at (585) 292-2495 or send an email to orientation@monroecc.edu.

If you would like to meet the Peer Mentors, please visit them in the PARC Office in

Building 3-138B (temporary location)

on the Brighton campus.
