Welcome! The Peer Mentors are Monroe Community College students who assist in making your transition to the MCC community a fun and enjoyable one. The Peer Mentors are located in the FYE and Orientation Office(3-129). Peer Mentors have undergone extensive training in leadership skills and campus resources. As an essential part of New Student Orientation, Peer Mentors will work with you and your guest throughout the summer and January Orientation programs.
During the academic year, Peer Mentors can be a resource for you if you are struggling with the adjustment to college life. Specifically, Peer Mentors can help you find ways to get involved on campus and develop leadership skills, work with you when you have interpersonal or personal concerns and need someone to talk to, and help you with basic study skills. Peer Mentors will also put on programs throughout the year focus on specific student populations ranging from traditional age students, athletes, and residential students to returning adults, part-time students, and students on academic probation. Any students who may need some extra support or encouragement in their transition to MCC should stop by and visit the Peer Mentors Monday-Friday 9am-4pm.
In the FYE and Orientation Office, you will find directions to and from various campus locations, the times and places of meetings for many of your clubs and organizations, and a schedule of events complete with important dates for the semester. Campus maps are also available. The FYE and Orientation Office offers pamphlets and brochures on a multitude of subjects ranging from time management to leadership skills.
The Peer Mentors look forward to meeting you and assisting in any way to ensure your time here at MCC is the most memorable and beneficial. The main goal of the Peer Mentors is your SUCCESS!
