Spanish Club

The
Spanish Club of Monroe Community College offers members the
opportunity to: speak in Spanish, watch videos in Spanish, experience
food, dance and cultural activities, listen to guest speakers and ask
for tutoring help. The Spanish Club is open to any full or part-time
MCC student.
Activities:Outside of Club meetings,
activities vary with the interests of the members. They have included:
Christmas parties for children at the Ibero Family Center; MS Walk;
movies, Las Posadas celebrations and salsa dancing at Nazareth's Casa
Hispana; Day of the Dead celebrations with SUNY Geneseo; Daffodil Sales
for the American Cancer Society; fundraising; a trip to NYC to see plays,
Flamenco dancing, Spanish Harlem, and relevant museums; voter registration,
etc.
Meetings: Weekly meetings take place during College
Hour (12:00 – 12:50). For time, date and location of meetings,
contact the Spanish Club
or the Spanish
Club advisor, or read the Spanish Club Discussion
Board.
Note: MCC Spanish-language students are invited to earn extra credit
in their Spanish classes. “Active participation” in 85%
or more of the Club meetings enables a student who passes the course
to have their grade increased by one increment (i.e. B+ to A-; C to
C+)
