Objective:
To review material from a previous class, reinforcing it for those
present and introducing it for those who missed class (and took
notes from someone else).
Time: approximately 15 minutes
- Students need a blank piece of paper
and books/notes must be closed.
- *Students are asked to make a list/rewrite a description/definition/explain,
etc. a concept from the last class.
Examples:
- Make a list of the Ineffective Listeners discussed last class
- Describe how to apply the “sandwich” evaluation method
using an example.
- Recreate the chart depicting the Johari Window and include an
example for each section.
- After each has a chance to write what they individually
recall (5-10 minutes), they must share with someone else what they
have and find someone who has what they can’t remember. (This
means getting out of their seat to share and find information from
someone else.)
- To review as a class, students either write the information
on the board (ie: each person writes one item from the list) or
share verbally the material.
- As a class, a discussion follows to review the concept
and students are asked to share examples that would be applicable
to further understanding of the concept.
*On occasion, the recall information is collected
before they share and find new material from someone else and whatever
they recall can be used as extra credit points. This can also be
used as a pop quiz.
A review of the information as a class would still
occur (#4, #5 above).
