Speech Communication

The Visual & Performing Arts Department offers a variety of courses and opportunities in speech communication. These courses satisfy program requirements and/or electives as well as improve personal and professional communication skills.

Speech Communication Courses:

Storytelling, Introduction to Speech Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Communication and Crisis, Honors-Competitive Public speaking, Speaking in Professional Situations

Programs Supported:

Speech Communication courses support a variety of college degree and certificate programs. These include and are not limited to: Automotive Technology, Business, Cinema & Screen Studies, Communication & Media Arts, Computer Information Systems, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Management, Health Studies, Office Technology, Visual Communication. In addition, Speech Communication courses may often satisfy a Humanities requirement.

Effective listening, public speaking, conflict resolution, nonverbal communication, assertiveness, group dynamics, leadership, critical analysis, persuasion
