SPA 206 - Advanced Conversational Spanish II

3 Credits

Continuation of SPA 205. Three class hours.

Prerequisite: SPA 205 or SPA 104, or four years of high school Spanish or equivalent.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate the ability to communicate in correct Spanish at the advanced level by successfully talking about topics like drug trafficking, international relations, the right to bear arms, censorship, death penalty, environmental issues, bilingualism and citizenship.
2. Demonstrate the ability to comprehend advanced-level conversational Spanish by accurately debating topics such as the role of the United Nations, the use of Spanglish in the U.S., the legal system, the environment, the media and popular culture.
3. Demonstrate the ability to comprehend written advanced Spanish by producing an oral report on the use of multimedia for the Hispanic market, focusing on the musical richness of the Hispanic culture.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the rules of pronunciation of the Spanish language at the advanced level by accurately producing adequately accented and fluent speech that will be easily understood by native Spanish speakers.
