ENR 251 - Statics
Fundamentals of statics applied to problems of engineering interest. A vector algebra approach will be presented. Topics include equivalent force systems, equilibrium, structural mechanics, friction, properties of surfaces. Three class hours. Course offered Fall. Course offered Spring in odd numbered years.
Prerequisites: MTH 211; PHY 161 with a grade of C or higher.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Analyze the two or three dimensional force system on an object.
2. Apply equivalent force systems to solve equilibrium problems of engineering interest.
3. Determine mass and geometric properties of objects.
4. Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between frictional forces and normal forces.
