GLF 117 - The Rules of Golf

2 Credits

This course is designed to provide the student with a comprehensive understanding of the rules of golf. The course will include instruction in the history of the rules, governing bodies, definitions, etiquette, and interpretation of the rules of golf. The student will learn how to identify the rule that applies to each situation, and how to interpret and apply the rule. Two class hours.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Explain the history of the original rules of the game
2. Outline the rules that govern the game
3. Classify the sections in the rule book that apply to match situations
4. Rephrase and interpret the appropriate rules that apply
5. Communicate the particular rules decisions that relate to the players' situations
