GLF 118 - Golf Shop Operation

3 Credits

This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of the operation of a golf shop. It will address the services that may be provided by the golf professional for the members/customers. The following topics will be covered: driving range operation, lesson programs, merchandising, and other revenue producing strategies. Three class hours.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Design a comprehensive business plan for submission in starting the retail business of golf
2. Evaluate what merchandise sells and why some items fail
3. Define proper inventory levels
4. Identify proper ordering amounts in golf goods without overextending
5. Prepare and enhance displays in a floor plan for retail purposes
6. Create training methods for golf shop staff
