THE 112 - Fundamentals of Acting One

3 Credits

Basic acting skills taught through theater games, exercises; and performance of dramatic scenes. Three class hours. (SUNY-A)

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Apply effective vocal and physical techniques to create multi-dimensional characters in theatrical scene work
2. Analyze and perform a character based on objective, tactics, motivation, and relationships
3. Employ artistic judgment regarding the dramatic effectiveness in theatrical scene work and apply that judgment to performance projects in the classroom as well as the major theatrical productions on campus
4. Demonstrate a strength of self-concept and ease in performance situations
5. Perform contrasting monologues (comedic/dramatic/classical/contemporary) in order to explore and compare various characters
