FPT 213 - Automatic Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems
Basic principles of the design, operation and maintenance of the various types of fire protection systems. Includes automatic sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire and smoke detection systems, and explosion suppression systems. Three class hours.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Evaluate the life, safety and property conservation effectiveness of specific sprinkler and standpipe system designs.
2. Articulate the importance of sprinkler and standpipe systems as safety systems for the general public and firefighters.
3. Summarize the operation of each major type of sprinkler and standpipe system.
4. Manage a facility's sprinkler and standpipe systems.
