PSC 203 - Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services Dispatching

7 Credits

This course concentrates on the techniques, roles, and responsibilities of fire and emergency medical services dispatching. Topics covered include law, regulations, dispatching procedures, record keeping, communication skills, and mutual aid systems.

Prerequisite: PSC 100 - Public Safety Telecommunicator, or PSC 101 - Emergency Medical Dispatch.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Initiate a fire or emergency medical services response based on information received from a telecommunicator, fire or EMS personnel, or established response plan.
2. Interact with fire and EMS personnel via various technologies to assist them with acquiring information, assist with coordinating their response, and to provide information to others.
3. Document dispatch actions related to fire and EMS responses to a public safety event or request for service.
