This course examines the role of women in the visual arts as both image maker (artist) and as image (subject) and how these images reflect social constructs/expectations.

1.Identify works by major women artists.
2.Explain the obstacles experienced by women artists in the past.
3.Discuss and evaluate assumptions about art made by women.
4.Explain the main issues and themes in feminist art.
5.Discuss the persistence of stereotypes about women today.
