TAM 181 - Dimensional Metrology II

Start Date: 03/11/2013 - End Date: 05/11/2015

In this course the student will build on the skills learned in Dimensional Metrology I with the use of more precise methods needed to perform parts inspection. Topics of study will include precision measurement with a variety of instruments such as specialty micrometers, bore gages, universal bevel protractor and plug gages.

Use of vernier scales on instruments will also be discussed. The student will also perform a precision two dimensional part layout using precise layout tools.
Thread terminology and measurement techniques will be covered.
Dial indicators will be used to measure and verify various part characteristics such as run out, flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity as well as linear dimensions. One credit.
