Lloyd A. Holmes, Ph.D., Named MCC’s Vice President for Student Services (03/04/2014)

lloyd holmesROCHESTER, N.Y. – March 4, 2014 – Lloyd A. Holmes, Ph.D., an award-winning higher education administrator, has been appointed vice president for student services at Monroe Community College.

In his most recent role as dean of students at North Shore Community College in Massachusetts, Holmes’ leadership of several student service-related offices earned him the 2013 North Shore Community College Governance Award. During his tenure as dean of students at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, he served as primary judicial officer, developed and managed assessment programs, and served for a year as interim director of counseling.

From the earliest days of his higher education experience as a residence hall director, Holmes gained significant knowledge and skills as a program coordinator, a financial aid advisor and, ultimately, an associate dean of students at the University of Mississippi. In addition to his extensive administrative experience, Holmes has also taught leadership development courses for both graduate and undergraduate students and a freshman year adjustment to college course.

In his new role at MCC, Holmes will lend his advanced leadership skills and his passion for the community college mission As vice president, he will lead a division committed to helping students develop and build character that encourages them to believe in themselves, and strive to be distinguished members of our community.

Holmes earned three degrees from the University of Mississippi: a Ph.D. in educational leadership, a M.Ed. in higher education/student personnel services and a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He received an associate’s degree in accounting from Mississippi’s Itawamba Community College.
