MCC Event to Make College Experience for Latinos a Family Affair from the Start (09/24/2013)

Ibero College Family Day open to students of all ages

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sept. 24, 2013 – Monroe Community College, in collaboration with Ibero-American Action League in Rochester, will host Ibero College Family Day to familiarize Latino families with the college experience and help them navigate the pathway to college through workshops and hands-on activities.

The event is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, on MCC’s Brighton Campus, 1000 E. Henrietta Road. Participants will tour MCC’s Applied Technologies Center and learn about high-demand careers in the region. A varied program of activities will be offered to students at all grade levels, from elementary to high school.

In addition, representatives from different MCC departments and from several community organizations will be on hand to provide information about the pathway to academic success in college, financial aid, academic and other support services, and community resources available to students.
