|New Course Focuses on In-Demand Careers (10/29/2012)
MCC is launching a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Professions course aimed at getting students into in-demand careers. The course will introduce students to key regional and national industries with career opportunities, such as applied technologies, engineering technologies, hospitality, and information and computer technologies.
Students will learn about CTE career opportunities in the classroom and visit local employers for a pulse on “real world” career environments. During the course, students will also develop an electronic portfolio that will become their tool in navigating their career pathways. It is hoped that after students explore various career and technical education professions, they will enroll in an MCC CTE program, earn a degree or certificate, and eventually fill a local job.
The two-week course begins today, Oct. 29, at no cost to more than 30 clients of the Office of Adult and Career Education Services, Youth Development and Family Services. The agency is a division of the Rochester City School District. Other partnerships with community organizations are being cultivated for the customized CTE Professions course.
