MCC Inks 2+2 Agreement with St. Bonaventure (07/30/2013)

Rochester and St. Bonaventure, N.Y.--Monroe Community College has signed a dual-admission agreement with St. Bonaventure University, allowing high school seniors the opportunity to pre-plan their four-year college careers.“This unique, dual-admission opportunity opens doors to 17 programs at St. Bonaventure University for students, including business, communication and liberal arts,” said G. Christopher Belle-Isle, director of MCC’s Career and Transfer Center. “After two years of study at MCC, students are assured full junior status when they transfer and are well on the path to earning a bachelor’s degree. We are pleased to offer this option to students in partnership with St. Bonaventure.”

Students who graduate from MCC with an associate degree and who complete prescribed sets of courses are guaranteed acceptance to St. Bonaventure as long as they have at least a 2.5 GPA (or 2.8 GPA if transferring into an education program leading to initial certification).

Students who transfer 60 or more credit hours to St. Bonaventure are guaranteed full junior standing. MCC admissions officers will be responsible for selecting candidates for the program.

“This 2+2 program gives students the assurance that the appropriate courses they take at MCC will all be accepted when they transfer to St. Bonaventure,” said Dr. Michael Fischer, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “We’re excited about this new agreement, especially because Rochester has been such an important market for us for so many years.”

Students who major in related programs at MCC can transfer to the following programs at St. Bonaventure:

· accounting, finance, management and marketing (from MCC’s business administration and economics program);
· journalism and mass communication (from MCC’s communication and media arts);
· elementary education (from MCC’s early childhood education);
· biology, chemistry, history, modern languages, psychology, political science, sociology and strategic communication and digital media (from MCC’s liberal arts and sciences);
· mathematics, music and theater (from MCC programs of the same name).

High school students interested in the 2+2 program should contact MCC’s Office of Admissions at admissions@monroecc.edu.
