If you have made a professional presentation to an external audience:
Contact the College and Community Relations Office as soon after the presentation as possible.
We will need to know:
- Employee’s name, title, department
- Employee’s town of residence
- Title of presentation
- Date of presentation
- Full name of organization to whom presented (clearly specify if organization is a chapter of a larger organization)
It is also helpful to know any discipline-specific media that might be interested in this news and where the employee earned his/her college degree(s). Alumni newsletters are effective news outlets!
If you have been published:
Contact the College and Community Relations Office one month before the expected publication.
We will need to know:
- Employee’s name, title, department
- Employee’s town of residence
- Title of article or book
- Name of magazine/journal or publishing company
- Expected date of publication
- Circumstances surrounding publication (i.e., selected from a competition, submitted to a peer review board, etc.)
It is also helpful to know any discipline-specific media that might be interested in this news and where the employee earned his/her college degree(s). Alumni newsletters are effective news outlets!
If you have received an award:
Contact the College and Community Relations Office upon written notification of the award by the grantor.
We will need to know:
- Employee’s name, title, department
- Employee’s town of residence
- Name of award; criteria for award
- Organization bestowing the award
- Event (name, date, location) at which award will be presented, if applicable
- Context of award (only recipient, chosen from among ## nominations, etc.)
It is also helpful to have a copy of the correspondence notifying the recipient of the award. This helps us ensure accuracy.
You have been elected or appointed to a leadership position:
Contact the College and Community Relations Office upon written notification of the election/appointment.
We will need to know:
- Employee’s name, title, department
- Employee’s town of residence
- Position to which elected
- Length of term, including date takes effect
- Organization (clearly specify if a chapter of a larger organization
It is also helpful to have a copy of the correspondence notifying the recipient of the election. It is understood that written notification is not always possible, but it is preferred.
If you know of a student who has received an award:
Contact the College and Community Relations Office upon written notification of the award by the grantor.
We will need to know:
- Student’s name, program of study
- Student’s town of residence
- Name of high school, if graduated within the last five years
- Name of award; criteria for award; organization bestowing the award
- Event (name, date, location) at which award will he presented, if applicable
- Context of award (only recipient, chosen from among #4 nominations, etc.)
It is also helpful and necessary that we have the student’s expressed permission to publicize the award. Permission in writing is best.
If you know of a student who has been published:
Contact the College and Community Relations Office one month before expected publication.
We will need to know:
- Student’s name, program of study
- Student’s town of residence
- Title of article or book
- Brief summary of article or book
- Name of magazine/journal or publishing company
- Expected date of publication
- Circumstances surrounding publication (i.e., selected from a competition, submitted to a peer review board, etc.)
It is also helpful and necessary that we have the student’s expressed permission to publicize the honor. Permission in writing is best.
