MCC Student Named SUNY Emerging Leader (11/09/2012)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –Nov. 9, 2012- Monroe Community College student Chloe Vazzana has been named a 2012 SUNY Emerging Leader for her significant leadership within the campus and community.

Vazzana, a liberal arts and sciences-humanities major who lives in Webster, was recognized for her work in raising funds to build more wells in South Sudan through the MCC Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project (HGHRP). Her achievements included organizing a walk-run to support Rochester-based Water for South Sudan’s efforts.

“I’m a passionate human rights activist. When I saw what HGHRP was about, I knew then it was the right organization for me to get involved in,” Vazzana said. “The support staff at MCC and the faculty whom I have formed relationships with have helped me become the leader I am today.”

In addition to serving as HGHRP president, Vazzana is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa international community college honor society.
