ROCHESTER, N.Y. –July 3, 2013- Brighton resident David Lawrence, DDS, director of the dental studies program at Monroe Community College, is a recipient of the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.
Lawrence, who began his MCC career in 1989 as supervising dentist for the dental hygiene program, defines his success by watching students walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. “Our graduates are the most rewarding aspect of my career,” said Lawrence. “Their drive to learn and to achieve a goal inspires me every day.”
In 2007, Lawrence was instrumental in developing one of the first distance dental hygiene programs in the country accredited by the American Dental Association. He has served 15 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Brighton. He has also served on the Budget Advisory and Transportation committees of the Brighton School System.
SUNY awards this distinction to university faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding performance both within and beyond their job description.
