Professor of Criminal Justice, History and Political Science. Has also served as a college administrator in two capacities - Director of Criminal Justice and Public Safety Programs[1993-2000] and Chairperson of the Department of Law and Criminal Justice [1982-1993]. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Science from John Carroll University, an MA Degree in History from the University of Rochester and a MA in Theology from Saint Bernard’s Institute. Professor Feasel is the recipient of the State University Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and the MCC Distinguished Professor Award. He is also a certified Master Instructor by the New York State Municipal Police Training Council and has been designated a Master Teacher by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development of the University of Texas - Austin's College of Education. He is a member of the Law Enforcement Training Directors Association of New York, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police.
As Director, Mr. Feasel was responsible for coordinating and fostering the synergy within the Public Safety Training Center, the Department of Law and Criminal Justice and the Fire Protection Technology Program. In addition, he developed the support for the new $26.4 Public Safety Training Facility. Project funding, design and 62% of construction was finished on his watch. In his last year as Director, Professor Feasel supervised twenty-six full time professionals with an annual operating budget in excess of $1.4 million.
Mr. Feasel served twenty-six years in the United States Army and Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel in the Corps of Engineers. After commissioning from the ROTC Program at John Carroll University, he was stationed on active duty at Fort Eustis, Virginia; Fort Lewis, Washington; and Pleiku in the Republic of Viet Nam. He received the Bronze Star for his service with the 4th Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam. His reserve service was with the 98th Division. He held positions of ever increasing responsibility as Company Commander, Public Affairs Officer, Battalion Commander, Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, Brigade Commander and Assistant Division Commander. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. His awards in addition to the Bronze Star include the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. The Army Engineer Association has presented him the Bronze DeFleury Medal for his service to the Engineer Center and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. And the Commanding General of the 98th Division (Iroquois) presented him with Division's highest award - the Order of the Tomahawk.
In June, 1999, Larry was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester. He currently serves at Saint Salome’s parish in suburban Irondequoit and at Rochester General Hospital.
