FACE - Financial Aid Course Eligibility

In order to receive financial aid for registered courses, you must take courses that are required in your Program (or that can satisfy a general elective within your program). To be in compliance with federal and state regulations, MCC uses software that determines whether registered courses are required to complete your Program (FAQs: Program vs Major). If you register for a course that is not required or cannot apply as a general elective within your program, you will get an error message and will receive notification in your student email. Failure to comply with course eligibility regulations will result in the reduction of your financial aid package.

If you get an error message upon registering for your courses please review the FAQs to understand and resolve the discrepancy. It is important to determine your course eligibility prior to registering for classes!

Example of Course Eligibility:

You wish to register for ACC 101.

  • If you are in the BU01 Business Administration degree program ACC 101 is a requirement; therefore it will be eligible for financial aid.
  • If you are in the LA04 Liberal Arts-General Studies degree program, ACC 101 is not a requirement. However, if there is room in your general electives for an additional course, it will be eligible for financial aid.
  • If you are in the DH01 Dental Hygiene degree program, ACC 101 is not a requirement and since there are no general electives in DH01, it will not be eligible for financial aid.

NOTE: There is an exception for students who are in their last term for State (TAP/APTS) financial aid only.
