How do I determine my account name?
Your account name consists of your first initial, your last name (up to 16 letters), and a three
digit number. There are no spaces or other characters. The three
digits are to distinguish the user names for common surnames. For example,
John Doe's user name is jdoe001. Please note that even small numbers such
as "1" have leading zeros (0) to fill out the three digit account
number requirement.
To find out what number you are, visit the Find my account name section of this
web site, and click on Find Account to lookup your exact account name.

Whom should I contact if I am having difficulty using the system?
The help desk for the Student E-Mail System is located in the Photo ID office
in Room 3-139A on the Brighton Campus. Student aides will be available to
answer questions and to help with basic troubleshooting, including accessing
accounts and changing passwords. You may stop by in person, call 292-2555 or
emailstudenthelp@student.monroecc.edu for assistance.

Which students have accounts?
All currently registered MCC students as well as all students who were registered
at the end of the past term have student e-mail accounts. These accounts
are created automatically based on class registration information.
Therefore, you do not need to request an account. If you are registered or
were registered at the end of the last term, you already have an account.

How long can I keep my account?
Accounts are the property of Monroe Community College and are provided to
registered students in good standing on a semester-to-semester basis. As
long as you are enrolled in a class, or were registered in a class at the end of
the last term, your account will be available. Therefore, you can maintain your
account over the summer term even if you don't take classes in the summer
provided you were registered for the spring semester and were still registered
at the end of the spring term (e.g. didn't withdrawal from all your courses).

What is my Internet e-mail address?
All student e-mail accounts are capable of sending and receiving e-mail
messages via the Internet. Your Internet address is simply your user name
(don't forget the numerals!) plus "@student.monroecc.edu." For
example, John Doe's address would be "jdoe001@student.monroecc.edu".
(do not use the quotation marks)

What happens if my name or student ID number changes?
Occasionally, a student may find it necessary to change their name or student
ID. This is most common with marriages and divorces. To obtain an official name change with
the college, you must make a written request with the Registration and Records
office (Room 6-203). In approximately two to four business days, all your
official college records will reflect the change.
If your student ID changes, you will appear to be a new student to the student e-mail system and the system
will delete your account, including all mail, and recreate a new account under your new student ID.
If just your name changes, the student e-mail system will not see the change, as your Student ID remained the same.
If you would like your student e-mail account name to reflect your updated student registration information, please
visit the Student E-Mail help desk and fill out the form authorizing them to submit a request for automatic account
recreation. This will delete your old account and create a new account under your new name. Please note that this
will also delete any of your existing mail, contacts, and calendar data.
You will need to use the "Find Account" tool to locate your new
account if either your name or student ID changes. Please be aware that
while your user name and account information will be automatically updated, any
Internet e-mail sent to the old account will not be forwarded to the new
account.
