Join us on March 10 in 8-300 at noon for the 29th McMurry Lecture. Jiyuan Yu will present “Virtue and External Goods in Confucius and Aristotle."
Jiyuan Yu is Professor of Philosophy at SUNY Buffalo, having taught there since 1997. He pursued his education at various universities in China, Italy, Canada, and England, where he was research fellow at Oxford. Dr. Yu is a gifted scholar that specializes in both Ancient Chinese and Ancient Greek philosophy. The SUNY Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences recognized him as a gifted teacher by awarding him the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2002.
Professor Yu sits on the editorial boards of History of Philosophy Quarterly, Journal of Chinese Philosophy, World Philosophy, Frontiers of Philosophy in China, and the Chinese translation of the Complete Works of Aristotle. Author of over 60 articles and books, his most recent work is The Ethics of Confucius and Aristotle: Mirrors of Virtue, published in 2007.
