The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project will host a 5K Walk for Water to benefit Water for South Sudan, Inc. on Saturday morning, October 5 at MCC. Their goal is to raise $4,000 to fund the drilling of safe-water wells in Southern Sudan.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; the walk begins at 10 a.m. in Lot G rain or shine. Registration fee is $12 per person. Prizes will be awarded for top fundraisers.
Since 2006, MCC students and community supporters have raised more than $50,000 for Water for South Sudan. In 2009, a well in Sudan was dedicated in MCC’s name. Water for South Sudan was founded by MCC alumnus Salva Dut. The organization has built 177 wells to date, enabling more than 400,000 South Sudanese villagers to thrive, develop centers of commerce and educate women and children.
