Honors Option Courses
The Honors Institute announces a new form of Honors course, the Honors
Option Course. Honors Option Courses are 200-level courses designated by
instructors, where one to three students contract with the instructor to
complete Honors-level work while other students complete standard coursework.
We anticipate Honors Option Courses will enable more students to experience the
satisfaction of completing Honors level work and completing the Honors Advanced
Studies Certificate. In recognition of the increased workload for offering
Honors courses, Provost Andrea Wade has agreed to reduce the number of course
seats by one for every Honors Option Student registered.
Faculty members will be able to request which course sections are Honors
Option Courses and the Honors Council will approve faculty requests. The Honors
Institute coordinator, Robert L. Muhlnickel, will meet with interested faculty
members during the Fall 2017 semester and we expect to offer Honors Option
Courses in the Spring 2018 semester.
