Domestic Violence Awareness Month at MCC
MCC is participating in the #NYGoesPurple4DV statewide campaign again this year. Thanks to the
Facilities Department, this week you will see MCC buildings and signs
illuminated in purple light to raise awareness about domestic violence and show
that MCC stands with survivors.
Monday, October 15th (TODAY!)
The Counseling Center & Disability Services is holding a resource event
today. Join us on the Terrace outside the cafeteria on the Brighton Campus
between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to learn more about resources available right
here at MCC.
Wednesday, October 17th
Learn more about community resources and connect with representatives from
The Legal Aid Society of Rochester, RESOLVE of Greater Rochester, and Willow Domestic Violence Center. Tables
will be setup in the Terrace outside the Cafeteria on the Brighton Campus
during the college hour.
Thursday, October 18th
Another chance to connect with community resources and meet representatives
from RESOLVE of Greater Rochester, RESTORE Sexual Assault Services, and Highland Family Planning. Tables will be setup in the Terrace
outside the Cafeteria on the Brighton Campus between 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 18th
Workshop: Obtaining Orders of Protection in Family Court
PRISM Multicultural Center from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. (space is limited, so
arrive early!)

Join Hannah Sonner, Court Advocacy Program Coordinator - Willow Domestic
Violence Center, and Jamilah Oquendo, Senior Probation Officer - Domestic
Violence Intervention Unit - Monroe County Department of Probation-Community
Corrections and learn more about the process for obtaining orders of protection
in Family Court.
