Kathleen
Farrell
has worked at Monroe Community's College's Art Department since 1986.
She is the Director of MCC's Mercer Gallery and Assistant Director of
Performing Arts which entails administering a creative arts program of
art gallery exhibitions, artists workshops, residencies and an artist
lecture series.
She is the advisor of the M.C.C. Student Art Organization which includes
organizing many campus events, such as the Mystery Video Hour and the
Annual New York City Trip. She is an Associate Professor of Art, teaches
an art seminar/portfolio course for visual art majors that provides students
with techniques and methods of preparing portfolio, slides and presentation
of their art work. She teaches in the computer graphics program using
the Macintosh computer to manipulate imagery with Adobe Photoshop, digital
photography and co-taught web design. Most semesters she has worked independently
with students focusing on various projects dealing with gallery and arts
management or various projects involving poster design for campus events.
During her 16 year career at M.C.C., she has conducted numerous one day,
weekend and week long art
travel trips (Art 175) to, Boston , Toronto, Buffalo, Montreal, New
York City, Chicago, Spain, Italy Paris, London and has plans for various
other cities and art centers in the years to come. In 1996, she was the
recipient of the prestigious State University of New York Chancellor's
Award for Excellence in Professional Service. In 2001 she received the
NISOD Excellence Award for teaching. This year she was the recipient of
the prestigious State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Scholarship
and Creative Activities.
