INTRODUCTION
There is broad mix of artistic abilities in the classroom, ranging from
the first year college student fresh out of high school to the student
who is coming back to college because they realize that they need to learn
how to draw and design on a computer. For instance, a seventy-six year
old woman who was a student in my digital photography class studied many
years ago along with world-renowned artist Robert Rauschenberg at Black
Mountain College. This soft-spoken woman had as much to say about art
and photography as many professors in the field. Yet she wanted to challenge
herself with what she referred to as "these new artistic technologies".

These more
experienced individuals have a story to tell the fresh out of high school
group. The younger students may have many years experience using computers
and have no fear of using technology. This to me is what MCC is all about
and what I love most about teaching here. You never know from one day
to another, one class to another, where it will take you.
