ACCT to Honor John Wadach, Northeast Regional Faculty Award Winner

Please join me in congratulating Distinguished Teaching Professor John Wadach (Engineering Science and Physics), winner of the Association of Community College Trustees’ 2011 Northeast Regional Faculty Member Award. MCC Board of Trustees Chair Kenneth Goode nominated Professor Wadach for the award.

The award recognizes a full-time instructor who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, initiated and helped develop innovative programs within a two-year, postsecondary institution, and who has positively affected the community, state or nation.

In his nomination letter, Chairman Goode stated, “Professor Wadach is an outstanding and well-loved faculty member whose passion for teaching and creating rewarding educational experiences for students is unparalleled. … The exciting, hands-on curriculum he has helped to develop attracts students to the STEM disciplines and exposes them to a variety of unique co-curricular, college transfer and career opportunities.”

As a result of being a regional award winner, Professor Wadach will be considered for the prestigious William H
. Meardy Faculty Member Award, the national association award named in honor of the ACCT’s founding executive director who championed the concept of faculty excellence as the foundation of success in the community college movement. The awards will be presented in October 14 in Dallas, Texas.

ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.
