MCC Upward Bound Students Volunteer for the Red Kettle Campaign

On Tuesday December 13, Mrs. Alice and Ms. Meka took 10 MCC Upward Bound (UB) students to volunteer for the Salvation Army at the Walmart on Hudson Avenue. Students rang the bell, sang songs, and interacted with patrons in order to raise money against poverty in Rochester.

Even though it was cold, UB students and staff continued to smile and commune with each other. Mrs. Alice said, “It was very exciting singing Christmas carols. It was cold, but we were moving and having fun.”

The event was also a good way for students to earn service hours for UB as well as for their schools. UB student Daequanne concluded, “I liked helping people for the Salvation Army.”
