The cover story in Community College Week’s January 21 edition highlights the Community Center for Teaching Excellence, an MCC-based initiative aimed at establishing a regional knowledge base of best teaching practices to improve student success across the K-20 continuum.
The article quotes Ann Pennella, director of CCTE, as well as two fellows in the program: Maria Brandt, assistant professor of English at MCC, and Samuel Simpson, a math teacher at All City High School in Rochester.
The second cohort of fellows (divided into the STEM disciplines and the liberals arts) has been selected and will begin on Feb. 26. For more information about CCTE, visit https://www.communitycenterforteachingexcellence.org/.
Many thanks go to Ann and the fellows for taking the time from their busy schedules throughout the semester to talk about their work in the program and in the classroom for the article.
