Nationwide Wireless Alert System Test Delayed Until October 3rd

Due to the ongoing recovery efforts from Tropical Storm Gordon and Hurricane Florence, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has rescheduled the test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System from Thursday, September 20 to Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

As detailed in the Monday September 17 edition of the MCC Daily Tribune, FEMA, in partnership with the Federal Communications Commission, will be testing the Nationwide Emergency Alert System which now consists of broadcasting emergency messages to wireless devices.

All participating wireless service providers will broadcast emergency messages to wireless customers on a voluntary basis in calendar year 2018. In 2019, all wireless service providers will be required to participate in the Nationwide Emergency Alert System.

Attached are two brochures with additional information regarding the upcoming test.

For any questions pertaining to the rescheduled National Emergency Alert System test or MCC Centric Emergency Communications programs MCC Alert or the MCC Guardian Mobile Safety App. please contact Emergency Manager Chuck DiSalvo at cdisalvo@monroecc.edu or call x2926.
