Monroe County to Expand Mpower Partnership with MCC

In response to the passing of Monroe County’s 2022 budget last week, WROC-TV reporter Eriketa Cost interviewed MCC student Ukneek Davis and Director of Workforce Projects and Operations Jim Gertner (Economic & Workforce Development Center/MCC Corporate College) for the story "Monroe Community College’s job-prep program to receive funding in 2022 budget." The story aired on Dec. 16, 2021.

Ukneek Davis is studying in MCC’s Certified Nurse Assistant program.

The county budget funds the expansion of Mpower, a partnership with MCC that responds to the need to grow the local workforce. Mpower focuses on the upskilling and reskilling of county residents through accessible training based on local market demand. The program also reflects a COVID-impacted economy and focuses on providing solutions to displaced workers, or career-changers, by helping train and transition workers into high-demand, self-sustaining jobs with local employers.

We thank Ukneek and Jim for participating in the interviews.
