John Wadach Earns National Leadership Award

Congratulations to Distinguished Teaching Professor John Wadach! John received the Association of Community College Trustees’ (ACCT) 2011 William H. Meardy Faculty Member Award on October 14 in Dallas, Texas.

The national award recognizes an instructor who has demonstrated excellence in teaching; initiated and helped develop innovative programs within a two-year, postsecondary institution; and made a positive impact on the community, state or nation. John, who has taught engineering science and physics for the past 27 years, was one of five regional-level award recipients to be considered for the national award.

“The individuals and colleges recognized by these awards have made extraordinary contributions to their colleges and American higher education overall,” said ACCT President and CEO J. Noah Brown. “ACCT is proud to shine a spotlight on these outstanding public servants through our annual awards program.”

ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the U.S. and beyond. The William H. Meardy Faculty Member Award is named in honor of ACCT’s founding executive director who championed the concept of faculty excellence as the foundation of success of the community college movement.
